NCE Soccer is proud to celebrate the achievements of Leah Schamberg, a standout player from our training programs, who has committed to playing soccer at Pace University starting in the fall of 2025. Leah’s journey from a young soccer enthusiast to securing a spot at a prestigious NCAA program is a testament to her dedication, talent, and the invaluable support she received from NCE Soccer.

Choosing Pace University

Leah’s commitment to Pace University came after an impressive showcase this past May, where she caught the attention of Edward Evans, Head Coach of Women’s Soccer at Pace University. “After our initial conversation, I was definitely interested in learning more about the program and seeing the campus for myself,” Leah shared. The welcoming environment, coupled with the attentiveness of Coach Evans, made Leah feel immediately valued as a player. After visiting the campus, meeting other commits, and reflecting on her options, Leah knew Pace was the right fit for her both athletically and academically. “While on the tour, I even commented to my mom that it reminded me of the area we were in during the Gothia Cup in Sweden!”

Soccer Beginnings and Club Journey

Leah Schamberg - Soccer Beginnings

Leah’s soccer journey began at the young age of three, though she briefly stepped away from the sport at seven to explore other interests like gymnastics and dance. Her passion for soccer was reignited in the fourth grade after watching the Women’s World Cup highlights. “I remember telling my mom that I wanted to become one of those women one day,” Leah recalls. From playing for her local New Paltz Soccer Club and competing with the Fox Soccer Academy’s WPSL team, to finding success with Force FC and challenging herself with Hudson Valley Athletic Club’s Boys Team, Leah’s development has been marked by determination and a continuous drive to improve.

Finding Her Position

Leah’s preferred position is Central Midfield, a role she grew to love during her first year on her high school varsity team. “Being able to control the field and my opponents just by my movements, communication, and decision-making is a powerful feeling,” she explained. Despite initially playing as an Attacking Mid or Wing, Leah’s adaptability and speed made her a natural fit for the central role, where she now thrives.

The NCE Soccer Impact

Leah joined NCE Soccer at the age of 15, introduced to the program by her best friend, Addison Macdonald. “I immediately loved the coaching staff and the trainings,” Leah said. Her involvement with NCE Soccer has been filled with highlights, including representing the USA at the Gothia Cup in Sweden for two consecutive years. “Being able to play in Europe while representing NCE and the USA, plus making new friends, was all so much fun and super rewarding.”

Development and Progress

NCE Soccer has played a crucial role in Leah’s development, not just as a player but also as a person. “I am more confident, proud, and sure of myself. I feel like my time playing with NCE has really helped me develop my leadership skills,” Leah shared. The challenging environment at NCE Soccer pushed Leah to excel, and she credits the program with helping her grow both on and off the pitch.

Navigating the College Pathway

The college pathway process, though long and exhausting, was made easier with the help of NCE Soccer. Leah found the indoor winter showcase tournaments particularly beneficial, as they allowed her to connect with numerous college coaches. “NCE’s indoor winter showcase tournaments really helped me with my process,” Leah explained. The College Webinars offered by NCE Soccer also provided valuable insights and opportunities to learn and ask questions.

Leah Schamberg - Future Aspirations

Future Aspirations

Leah’s passion for soccer has always driven her to dream big, “I’ve always wanted to play professionally,” Leah shares. “My goal is to play in Europe. I have family in Denmark, and I’d love to play there. Plus, after traveling to Sweden and Spain for soccer, I fell in love with those countries, too.”

One of Leah’s dreams has been to play for Chelsea FC Women, “For years, I dreamed of playing for Chelsea FC Women—partly because my dad is a huge Chelsea fan, but also because I’ve always wanted to work with Emma Hayes and Fran Kirby,” Leah explains. Now, with Emma Hayes leading the US Women’s National Team, Leah’s aspirations have evolved. “The most amazing thing would be to represent the US on the USWNT and to work with Emma Hayes,” she says.

Leah also hopes to inspire, “Ultimately, I want to inspire young athletes, especially young girls, to know that anything they set their mind to is possible,” she says. “My parents have always made sure I understood that my dreams are important and worth chasing. They taught me to never accept ‘no’ for an answer, to seek alternatives, and to always keep learning, working for, and chasing my dreams—but to never forget to have fun.”

Balancing Academics and Athletics

Leah’s achievements extend beyond the soccer field. She takes great pride in her academic performance, with a particular love for English and writing. Despite her athletic prowess, Leah also enjoys singing, though she prefers to keep that talent off the stage

Looking Ahead to Pace University

Leah will officially join Pace University as part of the Freshman Class in the fall of 2025, and she couldn’t be more excited. “I have verbally committed and am excited to be a part of the Freshman Class entering in the fall of 2025! Go Setters!”

Leah’s story is a shining example of the opportunities and growth fostered by NCE Soccer, and we are immensely proud of her accomplishments. For more success stories and to learn about our comprehensive training programs, visit NCE Soccer.
