It’s the busiest two weeks of the NCE Soccer calendar but we are delighted to report the residential events of 2021 were a huge success.
Hundreds of elite junior soccer players were invited to attend the stand out events of the year at DeSales University.
Over two consecutive weeks, NCE Soccer played host to boys and girls residential camps, boys and girls College ID camps and boys and girls Showcase Tournaments.
Nine winning teams and hundreds of winning smiles tells the story of these fabulous 14 days of soccer.
NCE Soccer captured the action on film and over the next two weeks we will take you behind the scenes, to share the story of all four camps.
Today we begin by focusing on the boys showcase tournaments which for the first time include three external partner clubs.
Showcase Event
Park Slope United, two-time USYSA National Champions YMS Soccer from Yardley, PA and the SJEB FC were invited to enter teams to the Showcase event.
NCE Soccer players formed 35 teams based on age and divided into regions to competed over two days for the Summer Invitational Showcase.
DeSales
NCE Soccer Technical Director John Curtis, said:Â “It’s a fantastic two weeks and, having lost last year because of the pandemic, it was brilliant to welcome everyone to DeSales.
“I’d like to say well done to all of the players who worked really hard and applied themselves and also a big thank you to my team, who worked tirelessly for two weeks.
“Organizing sessions, looking after our young players and the sheer logistics involved in sorting kit and equipment is not easy believe me!
“But it’s all worth it when you see the reaction of the players and you see them working so hard to achieve results.
“We have some fun too and it’s a great environment, but there is a real focus and we get to see real progression during the week.”
Competitive
NCE Soccer captured hundreds of photographs of the two residential camps, the College ID Camps and the Showcase tournament.
The Boys Invitational Showcase kicked off the competitive weekend with players arriving Friday September 21st to be divided into teams to get ready for the big weekend.
Our Under 11s North and South kicked off at 08:30 on Saturday morning, alongside the NCE Soccer U12s North and South and from that moment the action came thick and fast.
The Group games were completed by Sunday morning , with every team having played three or four matches ahead of the finals.
The U11s Boys Winners were YMS Soccer who secured the NCE Soccer Summer Showcase Cup by topping their mini-league table.
Four teams competed for the Under 12 NCE Soccer Summer Showcase Cup was contest including NCE Soccer North, South and East along with YMS 2009s, with each team playing each other.
The Winners were NCE Soccer North who beat the NCE Soccer South 5 -1 in the final to secure the trophy.
The NCE Soccer Summer Showcase Cup U13 crown was secured by the NCE Soccer East who beat NCE Soccer North with a fine performance in the final.
They had finished second in their group being table topping NCE North, but managed to turn the tables in the final. Â NCE East and YMS Soccer tied on four points and U13 South fourth with a single draw.
The Under 14s title was secured by the NCE Soccer South team, who overcame their East rivals 2-1 in the final.
They had been the stand out team in the group matches finishing unbeaten with victories over East, YMS Soccer and the North.
SJB Soccer showed their class in the Under 15s securing the NCE Soccer Summer Showcase with a solid three-nil win in the final against NCE Soccer South.
They had finished tied first in the group having played out a nil-nil draw, but the South Jersey side found an extra gear to secure the crown.
The Under 17s proved to be a fabulous final which went the distance as NCE South took on NCE North and managed to edge them out 5-4 on penalties.
There was very little between all four of the teams in the U17 group and that bodes well for the future.
The North and South finished tied for first and the East and West were the same, tied in joint third.
The weekend was a fantastic success and we look forward to next year.
The Girls Showcase Cup was an equally fantastic weekend and we will feature photos and crown the winners next so keep checking the website.
