Thirty NCE Soccer stars will be hoping to catch the eye at the showpiece Penn Fusion Winter Showcase.
The boys will travel as part of two NCE Soccer squads to compete in the prestigious event this weekend.
NCE will field teams in the boys Under 16s and Under 17s categories as collegiate coaches from the regions top NCAA, D1, D2 and D3 programs watch on.
The Penn Fusion Boys Winter showcase is the Northeast Regions premier college recruitment event and follows on from the girls showcase last weekend.
NCE Soccer’s Liam Witham will lead the boys squads and he says the boys can’t wait.
“It’s a really good event that invites the best of the best so it provides our boys with a real test and of course, it provides an opportunity to be spotted,” Liam explained.
“We expect a little bit more of a polished performance this weekend as they had the Albany tournament to prepare and we have some really strong players and had lots of interest from many coaches in Albany.
“Hopefully Penn will give the boys even more exposure to the college coaches this time.
“We moved the ball extremely well in Albany but as they were only 25 minute games and there weren’t many goals but we play the full 90-minutes at Penn so we will see what they can do.
“Penn attracts a large number of college coaches and it can lead to scholarships for some or a roster spot but the standard is high.
“We have two teams entering this year and that includes a squad of 30 players playing a six games over two days so there is lots to do but we are all excited by the challenge.”
The Under 16s travel with a squad of 16 players and they begin their campaign with an 11:10 start on Saturday against Penn Alliance Select Elite on pitch USTC #04.
Their second match begins early Sunday morning with an 08:00 kick off against PA Dominion FC 04 Rangers F/K/A HFC Ready on pitch USTC #01 before their final match at 14:20 against Penn Fusion SA ECNL on pitch #03.
The under 17s begin their program with an 12:45 start on Saturday at location USTC #02 against Penn Fusion SA ECNL and will have to rehydrate ahead of their second game of the day with a 17:30 kick off against the Cedar Stars Academy Newark.
The boys are back in action on Sunday at 09:35 as they take on Sta-Music 2003 B NL EDO.
Good luck to everyone taking part. Play well NCE!
