Paul Buckle
Paul Buckle serves as the Director of Professional Development for NCE Soccer and leads NCE programming in Northern California. With an extensive background in professional football as both a player and manager in England, Paul brings professional experience and authentic professional standards into the NCE environment.
As a player, Paul competed professionally in England for over a decade, developing a deep understanding of the tactical, physical, and psychological demands required at the professional level. His playing career laid the foundation for what would become a highly respected managerial path within the English Football League system.
Paul is widely recognized for his time as manager of Torquay United, where he led the club to promotion to the Football League and later guided them to a League Two playoff final at Wembley Stadium. He has also held managerial roles with clubs including Bristol Rovers and Luton Town, operating in environments where performance standards, recruitment decisions, and player development directly impact professional outcomes.
At NCE Soccer, Paul’s role centers on bridging the gap between youth development and the professional game. He works closely with staff and players to ensure training sessions reflect real match demands — emphasizing tactical discipline, decision-making speed, positional accountability, and mental resilience. His influence helps align NCE programming with the expectations players will encounter at collegiate and professional levels.
In Northern California, Paul leads regional programming with the same high standards that defined his professional career. His sessions are structured, purposeful, and built around preparing players for meaningful progression within the NCE Pathway.
Through his leadership, NCE athletes gain direct insight into what professional environments truly require — not just technically, but culturally and mentally. Paul’s experience at the highest levels of English football provides a rare and valuable perspective that strengthens NCE’s commitment to long-term player development and authentic Pro Pathway preparation.
