NCE Soccer Welcomes Fiona Walsh as Rhode Island Regional Director

NCE Soccer is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Walsh as Regional Director for Rhode Island, marking an important step in the continued growth of NCE programming across New England.

Fiona will lead the delivery of NCE’s professional-standard training environment throughout Rhode Island, with additional reach into parts of Connecticut, as the organization launches at two new venues: Mitchell College and Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Kingstown.

This expansion reflects NCE’s long-term commitment to providing ambitious young players access to a structured, high-performance development pathway.

Strengthening the NCE Pathway in New England

NCE Soccer is pleased to announce the appointment of Fiona Walsh as Regional Director for Rhode Island, bringing a highly accomplished coach and former collegiate standout into a key leadership role as the organization expands across New England.

Walsh currently serves as Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, where she has spent the past six years coaching at the collegiate level. Alongside her college role, she is involved in the game as a club coach with experience across all youth levels ECNL, ECRL, DPL, and EDP.

She has also been part of the NCE coaching staff since 2023, working within training environments in Connecticut and New York.

Now, she steps into a leadership position where she will oversee the continued growth of NCE programming throughout Rhode Island and into parts of Connecticut.

A Coaching Background Built on Experience and Standards

Walsh brings a depth of experience that spans every level of the game—from youth development to collegiate coaching and semi-professional competition.

Her background includes:

  • Head Women’s Soccer Coach – Mitchell College (6 years collegiate coaching experience)
  • Head of Goalkeeping – Rhode Island Surf
  • Former Head Coach at the UWS semi-professional level
  • Club coaching experience across ECNL, ECRL, DPL, and EDP platforms
  • USSF “C” License
  • United Soccer Coaches GK Level 3 Diploma
  • NASM & CSCS Certified (Sports Performance)
  • Master’s Degree in Teaching

As a player, Walsh was a four-year goalkeeper, team captain, and record-holder at Vassar College, giving her first-hand experience competing and leading at a high level.

This combination of playing, coaching, and performance training experience positions her to deliver a well-rounded and demanding development environment for NCE athletes.

Leading NCE’s Expansion in Rhode Island

As Regional Director, Walsh will lead the rollout and development of NCE programming across Rhode Island, with additional reach into Connecticut.

This includes the launch of training at two new venues:

  • Mitchell College
  • Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Kingstown

Her role will focus on:

  • Delivering training aligned with NCE’s professional academy standards
  • Identifying and developing players within the region
  • Integrating athletes into the broader NCE pathway, including Pro Pathway Camps and international tours
  • Building a consistent, high-performance environment across all sessions

A Familiar Face Within the NCE Environment

Having already coached within NCE since 2023, Walsh brings continuity as well as leadership.

She understands the expectations, structure, and standards that define the NCE model—making her transition into Regional Director both natural and strategic.

Her experience within existing NCE environments ensures that players in Rhode Island will receive the same level of coaching and accountability seen across the organization nationally.

A Development Model That Demands More

Walsh’s approach aligns closely with NCE’s core philosophy:

Development must come before exposure.

Training under her leadership will focus on:

  • Technical execution under pressure
  • Tactical understanding within realistic game situations
  • Decision-making speed and consistency
  • Professional habits, accountability, and standards

With her background in both goalkeeping and overall player development, Walsh also brings an added level of detail to position-specific coaching—an area often overlooked in traditional youth environments.

Building the Future of NCE in New England

With Fiona Walsh leading the region, NCE is establishing a strong foundation for long-term growth across Rhode Island and into Connecticut.

Players within the program will have access to progression opportunities including:

Pro Pathway Camps
Regional and national training programs
International tours and academy experiences

The objective remains consistent:
to deliver a clear, structured pathway aligned with professional standards.

Next Steps

With summer programming launching at Mitchell College and Wide World of Indoor Sports, players now have the opportunity to train within a high-performance environment led by one of the region’s most experienced coaches.

For those ready to be challenged and developed properly, this is where it starts.
