The New Jersey stage is set for the third round of NCE Soccers Winter Invitational Showcase tomorrow!

More top College Coaches will be watching the best players from around the NCE Soccer regions at Superdome Sports in New Jersey.

Around 500 of our best players will travel to compete in the third leg of the Winter Invitational.

So far, Long Island are leading the way with 11 victories across the the respective age groups in the boys and girls competitions, with New York hot on their heels with eight victories.

Challenge

But this weekend provides North Atlantic Select with home advantage with 12 hours of action schedule to kick-off at 09:00 on Saturday morning.

“It’s been a terrific series so far and a chance for our best players to test themselves against other regions,” explained NCE Soccer Operations Director Nick Dunbar.

“There is nothing like competitive soccer and it’s fascinating to see how players step up to the challenge.

“It is also a terrific opportunity for College and University coaches to watch players in action as they consider their plans for the forthcoming seasons.

“It isn’t just about the players they like for next year, it’s a chance for them to spot and follow the development of our younger players too and that connection with their families is invaluable.”

Tournament

The third Invitational begins at 9am tomorrow and the NCE Soccer team will be on hand to supervise and advise during a day of red hot soccer.

Whilst the tournament isn’t strictly speaking a culminate event it is raises the stakes to consider past performances.

Long Island came out on top after the first Winter Invitational winning five age categories across the boys and girls categories at Superdome Sports in New Jersey.

And they added to their fine start two weeks ago proving they travel well by adding another six age group victories to their tally.

New York Metro travelled well, winning five age groups in Danbury and they will be hoping to continue their momentum this weekend.

New Jersey

But the spirited North Atlantic squad will be hoping home turf helps them as the action returns to Superdome Sports in New Jersey.

“We want the Tournament to be competitive but it is all played in the right spirit and it is terrific to see players raise their levels.

“We see our players literally grow before our very eyes and it is incredible to see their journey over the four tournaments.

“Tomorrow it is back to New Jersey and we have a great day to look forward too.”

Yale University

Around 15 Universities are expected to attend including West Conn, Wesleyan, Felician and St Rose.

They will watch a day of tournament soccer feature players from around the NCE Soccer regions.

Boys Results

New York Select set the standard in the Boys 2011/12 Final by securing a 4-nil win against North Atlantic Select.

The Boys 2010 Final followed suit with another final victory for New York Metro Select. They secured a 2-1 win over North Atlantic Select after dominating their group, finishing unbeaten with four wins for their four games.

Long Island Select were unable to break the New York Select momentum as they too went down 5-1 in the 2009 Boys Final. The New York squad were just too strong having finished top of their group with three wins out of four in the group and having scored ten goals along the way.

But their older teammates were finally able to halt New York Select’s run of results as Long Island Select came out 2-1 winners in the Boys 2008 Final having topped their group with three wins from four.

It was heartbreak for North Atlantic in the Boys 2007 Final. They topped their group with three wins and were looking strong but were overcome by Long Island Select 3-nil in the final.

New York Metro were too strong for North Atlantic in the Boys 04/06 Final strolling to a five-nil victory, to cap a tremendous day. They finished top of their group going unbeaten as they chalked up four wins, scoring 12 goals and conceding just four.

Girls Results

North Atlantic Select edged out New England Select 2-1 in the Girls 2010 Final in a closely fought match.

But their older teammates were no match for the New York Select who ran out 6-3 winners over New England Select in the Girls 2oo9 Final.

Long Island Select were dominated in the 2008 category, topping their group with three wins and a draw and then beating North Atlantic Select 1-0 in the Girls 2008 Final.

The Girls 2007 Final was a similar story with Long Island Select beating New York Metro Select 4-2 in the Final.

And Long Island Select continued their fine form from Danbury, dominating their group scoring 22 goals in four wins before romping to a 6-2 victory over New England Select in the Girls 04/06 Final.
