Fiona Walsh serves as the Rhode Island Regional Director for NCE Soccer, bringing extensive experience across collegiate, youth, and semi-professional environments into a leadership role focused on player development and program growth. She currently serves as the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut, where she has spent the past six years working within the collegiate game and developing players in a competitive, performance-driven environment.
Originally a standout goalkeeper, Fiona played collegiately at Vassar College, where she was a four-year player, team captain, and program record-holder. She later earned her Master’s degree in Teaching, combining her academic background with practical coaching experience to support both the athletic and personal development of the players she works with.
In addition to her collegiate role, Fiona has built a strong presence within the youth game. She serves as a club coach and Head of Goalkeeping at Rhode Island Surf, working across top national platforms including ECNL, ECRL, DPL, and EDP. Her experience also includes time as a Head Coach at the UWS semi-professional level, giving her a well-rounded perspective on the demands of the game at multiple stages of the pathway.
Fiona holds a USSF “C” License and a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 3 Diploma, alongside NASM and CSCS certifications in sports performance. This combination of coaching education and physical training knowledge allows her to deliver sessions that are technically detailed, physically appropriate, and aligned with the demands of the modern game.
Her coaching philosophy centers on delivering structured, high-standard training within a player-focused environment. Sessions emphasize technical execution under pressure, tactical understanding, decision-making, and the development of professional habits. With a strong background in goalkeeping, she also brings added attention to positional detail and individual development within the team framework.
At NCE, Fiona leads programming across Rhode Island and into parts of Connecticut, overseeing training delivery, player identification, and progression within the NCE Pathway. Her experience and leadership ensure that players in the region are exposed to a consistent, professional standard of coaching designed to support long-term development and meaningful progression within the game.
