Mansfield Town’s Mark Clarke Returning to Coach at NCE Pro Pathway Camp in 2026

This summer, NCE Soccer will once again welcome an experienced professional coach from England’s academy system as Mark Clarke returns to work with players at the 2026 NCE Pro Pathway Camp.

Currently working with Mansfield Town F.C. in England, Clarke will join fellow professional academy coach Rich Horner at the residential training environment hosted at DeSales University.

Clarke’s return continues NCE’s commitment to bringing authentic professional academy coaching directly to its most dedicated young athletes.

The 2026 Pro Pathway Camp will feature coaches arriving from professional environments across Europe and South America, giving players the opportunity to train under the same standards used inside elite development systems around the world.

Professional Coaching Experience from the English Game

Clarke brings significant experience as both a former professional player and a youth development coach.

Working within the English football system, his background combines real playing experience with advanced coaching education, including:

  • UEFA A Licence

  • UEFA B Licence

  • FA Youth Award

These qualifications place him among the highly trained coaches responsible for developing young players inside professional club academies.

For NCE players attending camp, that experience translates directly into sessions that mirror the demands and expectations of professional training environments.

A Coach Who Connects with Players

According to NCE Founder John Curtis, Clarke’s impact on players goes beyond technical coaching.

“It’s great to have Mark back again in 2026. The rapport he builds with the players is amazing, and his experiences as a professional player and youth development expert are invaluable for NCE players.”

Clarke’s ability to communicate with young athletes while maintaining high standards has made him a familiar and respected figure within the NCE environment.

Players who have worked with him previously often return with stronger understanding of both the technical and mental demands required to progress in the game.

What Clarke Looks Forward to Most

For Clarke, one of the most rewarding aspects of returning to Pro Pathway Camp is reconnecting with players he has worked with over multiple seasons.

Speaking ahead of the summer, he explained:

“I’m most excited about seeing the kids that I’ve seen over the last few years and have built good working relationships with, enjoying getting on the grass again. Letting the kids know how competitive the environment is. Last but not least, having lots of fun whilst learning.”

That balance between intensity and enjoyment is central to the camp’s philosophy.

Players are pushed to improve, challenged to compete, and encouraged to embrace the demands of high-performance environments — all while maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere.

Training Under Professional Academy Standards

The NCE Pro Pathway Camp is designed to replicate the structure and intensity found inside professional academy environments.

Across the residential program at DeSales University, athletes participate in:

  • Multiple training sessions each day

  • High-intensity technical exercises

  • Tactical problem-solving activities

  • Competitive small-sided games

Players are evaluated not just on technical ability, but also on their mentality, decision-making, and ability to adapt within demanding training environments.

This structure challenges players to maintain standards across several intense sessions each day — a key characteristic of professional development systems.

Preparing Players for the Next Level

The goal of the NCE Pro Pathway Camp is not simply to run a summer training program. It is to place committed players inside a learning environment that reflects the expectations of the professional game.

Through coaches like Mark Clarke, players gain exposure to:

  • Professional coaching methodology

  • Elite training standards

  • Tactical thinking used inside academies

  • The mentality required to compete at higher levels

For many players, it is their first experience training under coaches who operate within the professional football system every day.

Summer 2026 at DeSales

Hosted once again at DeSales University, the NCE Pro Pathway Camp provides a residential setting where players can immerse themselves in the game.

With professional coaches arriving from multiple countries and development backgrounds, the environment continues to evolve into one of the most unique training experiences available to ambitious young players.

And with Mark Clarke returning to the field, NCE athletes will once again have the opportunity to learn directly from a coach who understands what it takes to succeed inside the professional game.
